| Personal History | Azusa was born in Japan on Earth. She had a fairly standard childhood, and was an only child. Everything began to change when she entered into junior high school. She wanted to play music, and at the time aspired to be a muscian playing the Electric Guitar. She is a good player of the guitar, but she became more fascinated in how it actually worked. She became more curious about how more things worked and was often found pulling extra time in the technology and computer labs researching how things worked and how to repair them. By high school she was known to be able to fix just about anything that may break. She still enjoyed her music and joined the Light Music Club at the school, this is where she met her friend and Senpai, Yui Hirasawa who now serves on the USS Calypso. By the end of High School, Azusa had decent grades and had done very well gaining a overall distinction in her high school diploma. She asked her parents if she could go into something to do with fixing things. They laughed at her and told her that there wasn't really any decent jobs doing that sort of work outside of Starfleet. Azusa then turned around to them and told them she was going to go and join Starfleet and prove them wrong. She underwent the entrance exams and passed, getting into the Engineering course at Starfleet Academy. The next four years was hard for Azusa, she found living in America much different from living in Japan. (Although she developed an unhealthy taste for something the Americans call 'Deep fried ice cream'). However regardless of this she passed the Academy and at age twenty two gained her Academy Diploma in Starship Engineering. Her major was that of propulsion theory and repair, her minor was that of damage control. Although she was trained in all engineering aspects. Her first assignment was aboard the USS San Jose as a junior engineering officer. She enjoyed being aboard the ship, and after eighteen months was assigned the position of assistant chief engineer. The CEO of the San Jose realised her potential and put her down on the promotion list to one day become a chief engineer. Luckily a few months later a position aboard the USS Aurora became available for the Chief Engineer. The crew and ship was small so it was perfect for Azusa to take up. During her three years on the Aurora she became close friends with the Betazoid Chief of Security Trei Jansum. With the ship being a Nova Class people often rumoured they would end up together as a couple. Safe to say towards the end of her time on the Aurora they even tried having a date which didn't go very well, but there was chemistry. That all changed when on an away mission a strange pollen caused their minds to 'revert' to primal instincts. They were originally assigned to investigate the loss of contact of a Federation duck blind when this pollen essentially 're-wired' the away teams brains. Azusa and Trei were both affected and Trei ended up 'claiming' Azusa as his 'mate'. In the end, both of them were retrieved and cured by the Aurora's CMO. But, the damage had been done. During their time on the planet Azusa and Trei had 'mated' and Azusa discovered she was now pregnant. Unfortunately they tried the whole 'boyfriend/girlfriend' relationship, but after that it just didn't work out. Tried was facing immense pressure from his family as they were very traditional and the fact he had impregnated a Human was unacceptable. He was forced to resign and return to Betazed leaving Azusa alone and being ordered by his family to 'forget about her and the half-breed child'. They didn't want a non-full Betazoid having access to their estate. It was for the best, Azusa herself was facing pressure from her own parents about having a child before marriage. So, sadly Azusa and Trei parted ways and Azusa requested a reassignment. She wanted to get away from it all, and get an assignment that was safer for her unborn child to grow up in. Becoming chief of operations on Starbase 109 was ideal and perfect for what she wanted. |
