Though hermaphroditic, Pifanyi chooses the female identity. She is lithe and quite agile. The Hermat are natural contortionists making her extremely flexible. She can stand and move about on her hind legs with ease. She can run the same as well. In a sprint, however, she can change to running on all fours where the Hermat are much faster. A natural spring in the spine helps propel the Hermat forward when sprinting thus. She has extendible claws in both hands and feet the allow for gripping the ground, food and prey and can assist in running and climbing scaleable vertical obstacles, trees, cliffs, etc. Pifanyi does not generally wear footwear as Starfleet regulations allow for Hermat personnel. Special boots are available in the event she has to wear footwear and special dress uniform footwear is also available. The Hermat all have a mouthful of razor sharp canine teeth for biting their food and oftentimes severing limbs and appendages with a single bite. Extra tendons in the jaw allows the Hermat to bite down with extreme force and for long durations before tiring and having to let go. The Hermat also possess a brain similar to most humanoids, complete with two hemispheres, but also possess a hindbrain, a smaller brain in the back of the head, where baser instincts are stored and are called upon in dire times. When death is near or during times of high stress where a person's survival mode would normally kick in, the Hermat can tend to turn animalistic and feral and should not be held accountable to any damage done while in said state. Brain scanners do exist and Starfleet medical professionals are supplied with instruction on scanning for and measuring the level of cycobaramine circulating in a Hermat's circulatory system to better ascertain whether or not said Hermat was truly in the right mind or feral at a time of incident. The Hermat are androgenetic (hermaphroditic) meaning they possess both male and female sexual organs with the male being internal and able to protrude when needed. The Hermat oftentimes do not appear overly male or female but can lean one way or the other if they choose. The Hermat can reproduce with another or alone. Hermat hybrids will always possess Hermat genetic traits, to include quick pregnancies, extreme short childhood, eidetic memory, flexibility, agility, need to hunt and prey, etc. Should a Hermat reproduce with a member of another race, the resulting child may only appear similar to the other parent. Appearances aside, the child will always be Hermat. |

| Strengths & Weaknesses | Pifanyi generally keeps to herself and avoids others and social occasions when possible. The Hermat themselves are not exactly xenophobic but more hermetic. They do not make friends easily and generally come off as cold and uninviting when initially met. Pifanyi is not easily trusting. |
| Personal History | Pifanyi was born 5 years ago. Hermat children age rapidly, an average of 6 Earth years per each Hermav year, until the age of 3 (puberty) where their metabolism slows and their aging also slows to about 1.5 Earth years to each Hermav year. The Hermat only live to about the age of 40 (Hermav) years with few living longer than that. While needing only 4 hours of sleep to be considered a full night's sleep, the Hermat get a lot done during their waking hours. The Hermat also possess an Eidetic memory making them remember things vividly years into the future. The Hermat can also look at a page of text for but a few seconds and absorb its entire contents. This does not mean the Hermat are smarter, just more able to learn quickly. Having an eidetic memory, super flexible and very athletic when it comes to running and climbing, not to mention being a dangerous weapon with her retractable claw, made her a highly unpopular person when it came to competitions and grade contests while at the Academy. Starfleet had to create a subdivision for the Hermat alone and Pifanyi would have had no competition as she was the only Hermat at the Academy during that time. So, she did not partake in any sports or competitions. Instead, she dedicated time to study and work. Needing only 4 hours of sleep, sometimes only 3 hours would suffice, she used the additional hours for extra classes and to perform her residency at the Starfleet Academy Medical Center. What would take someone 4 years at the Academy plus some years of residency in the medical field, Pifanyi managed to complete in only 2 years. Having a life span on only 40 years, time for a Hermat is paramount and it is highly important to not waste time. As she did not have the time to have a childhood, Pifanyi (like most Hermat) is solely focused on work. Hermat children, wanting to be members of a greater society need to have the education of the average 18 year old by the time they appear 18 years of age at only the age of 3. Hermat are, essentially, born learning about the world. Their education curriculum is brutal and extensive, all the while they are rapidly growing for the first 3 years of their lives. At the age of 2 (human appearing 12) Pifanyi was subjected to a group of children who lost control of their desire for hunting prey. Computer simulations and simple playing did not cut if for them and they picked her as their prey. The chase was long enduring and fierce. Pifanyi managed to separate herself and the alpha of the children from the other children to fight him one on one. The fight was short lived and ended in the death of the attacking child as Pifanyi fell into survival mode and her hindbrain had taken control. Pifanyi launched herself into chasing the remaining children before her forebrain regained control and Pifanyi became herself once again. A quick police investigation removed any guilt from her and placed the blame on the other children who instigated the chase. After that incident, Pifanyi focused on study and avoided playing with children as much as she could. She arrived at Starfleet Academy having already read and memorized much of the entry level reading material, thus providing her with a jumpstart on her studies in Starfleet Medical. She completed 2 years worth of Academy training in just under 1 year before launching into core competencies, advanced teaching, as well as her medical residency. |
