Captain Francis Retirement (Within the Sim)

Hi all! CF here. I hope everyone is having fun developing the new station as well as its diverse and fascinating cast of characters. I have some significant news that will be announced soon within our story. I wanted to say it here first.

Captain Francis is going to retire.

To be clear, I am not stepping down from SB109. In the story, Captain Francis will step down and command of the station will go to Mindo. It's a big change and I've wanted to do it for a while. Some of you are already aware of Mindo and the colorful personality he has. I think he's going to fit in here. For those unfamiliar, allow me to brag a little...

I started playing Mindo in 2014 as a D&D character. We called his race "mole men," but I think of him as being closer to a hobbit. He had high Charisma and Constitution, so he was a blast to play out. Sadly, he only lasted about a month, until our DM had to stop. Not wanting to give up on the little guy, I adapted him as a Star Trek sim character. Same small stature, same charismatic nature. For twelve years I've played him and I still have no plans for an endgame. He's very bizarre and fun to write. Over time I've even collected several Theta Fleet awards with him too, including Player of the Year in 2024. That's enough bragging. Thanks for humoring me!

I believe Mindo and I have reached a point in our journey where this is the only logical next step. I've enjoyed playing Captain Francis all these years, but I believe he's run his course. Given the reset that is currently underway, this is the best time to do it. The actual transition in-game will be written out over the next month or so.

It was a hard decision, but I made up my mind last August and now I'm ready to make it so. I'm glad I get to share the experience with all of you! It is truly a joy to be part of the stories we tell in a universe we all love so much!
